Declaration for Pension or Increase in Pension
State of Missouri, County of Jasper, SS:
On this 16th day of June A.D. one thousand eight
hundred and Ninety personally appeared before me
the Clerk of Co. Court of the Jasper County a Court
of Record within and for the County of State aforesaid
Sarah M. Stewart aged 46 years, who, being duly
sworn according to law, makes the following declaration
in order to obtain the Pension provided by Acts
of Congress granting pension to widows: That she
is the widow of Abijah Stewart, who Enlisted under
the name of Abijah Stewart at Tenn. on the 1st
day of April A.D. 1864 in Co. E. 1st Regt Tenn
Lt Arty in the war of Rebellion who contracted…
died on the 19 day of March A.D. 1888 who bore
at the time of his death the rank of Civilian in
Pierce City, Mo. that shw was married under the
name of Sarah M. Morison to said Abijah Stewart
on the 13 day of June A.D. 1866 by James Squibb
J.P> at Greene Co., Mo there being no legal
barrier to such marriage; that neither she nor
her husband had been previously married, that she
has to present date remained his widow; that the
following are the names and dates of birth of all
his legitimate children yet surviving who were
under sixteen years of age at father’s death,
viz
Oscar Stewart of soldier by --, born April 9 1876
Almer Stewart of soldier by --, born Jany 29 1878
Arrah Stewart of soldier by --, born Sept 24 1881
Lilly Stewart of soldier by --, born Dec 27 1885
That she has not abandoned the support of any one
of her children, but that they are still under
care or maintenance.
that she has not in any manner engaged in, or aided
or abetted the rebellion in the United States;
that a prior application has been filed under act – June
27 1890 No 447076
That she hereby appoints, with full power of substitution
and revocation, ?? Ballord of Washington D. C.
her attorney to prosecute the above claim, that
