In the matter of Abijah Stewart Priv. Co. “E”

On this 28 day of May A.D. 1894, personally appeared
before me, a Clerk County Court in and for the
aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer
oaths, Jane R. Cummings aged 43 years, a resident
of Jonesboro in the County of Washington and the
State of Tennessee whose Post Office address is
Jonesboro, Washington Co., Tenn. and A. B. Cummings
aged 58 years, a resident of Jonesboro in the County
of Washington and State of Tennessee whose Post
Office address is Jonesboro, Tenn. well known to
me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and
who, being duly sworn, declare in relation to the
aforesaid case as follows: That they have been
well and personally acquainted with Abijah Stewart
during his entire lifetime by affiant Jane R. Cummings & by
affiant A. B. Cummings for several years and that
at the time of his enlistment, the said Abijah
Stewart was in sound health and had enjoyed good
health for five years previous to his enlistment
in the United States service; but that since his
discharge there from his health has not been good,
and he has not been able to perform manual labor,
or attend to his duties as a farmer, by reason
of disabilities received while a prisoner of war,
in the Prison at Danville Va, during the winter
of 1864 and 1865.
