After 6 years they moved to Ohio and from there to Illinois when Elizabeth was about 12 years. She was the eldest of 13 children, 10 of whom still survive. She was married March 1, 1849 to John Wilson in Washington County, Illinois. Of this marriage there were born 10 children of whom 4 survive the mother. In 1881 the family came to Crawford County, Kansas where they located a farm 2 miles north of Mccune, where they remained until April 1903 when the old couple moved to McCune. She joined the Associated Reform Church when about 16 years of age and remained a member of that church until its union with the United Presbyterian Church where she retained membership until the disbanding of that congregation in McCune. The aged husband survives, who with the children mentioned, together with 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren will cherish the memory of their loved one until called to meet her beyond the river. |
